Travel Time

It has been a difficult thing travelling to work, especially in the wee hours of morning. My work requires me to travel at 3:00 the earliest, which was when I was in the 4:00 AM shift, thanks to DST, it was moved to 5:00 AM and so as my travel time.

It was a constant battle to stay awake in my almost one hour of commute five times a week. Most of the time, it was a no-brainer to choose dozing off the entire jeepney ride, to compensate my almost three hours of sleep the night before. But since most of my colleagues has their tell tales of bad early morning instances such as bags being snatched while walking, in the jeepney or even while waiting for your ride, I decided to just stay awake the entire jeepney ride, thus this idea of putting up a blog emerges.

I often pray the rosary on my way to work, just to keep my sleepy brain at work. The days went smooth until I mastered saying the rosary half my travel time, then I thought about all these people whom I happen to rode with almost every day. I always make a story out of them, all because I don't want to fall asleep.

And as I said, the thought of putting up a blog started when my fascination for the people I share my early morning ride started. First, it was just a blog to write fictional stories of them. Those 'ah, she's working in a call center, that's why she travels and rides the same jeepney that I am riding'  for the call center agent looking girl that always have her jacket handy; or the 'maybe she wants to be the earliest vendor in the market' for the guy who always have sacks of vegetables occupying the whole mid-part of the jeepney; or the 'we've been doing this, travelling together early in the morning since we got married 50 years ago' for the elderly couple that always hop on the jeep midway my travel distance. Second, I thought of putting up a photo blog of my daily jeepney experience and the images of the people who travel early, be it a professional or not, but I was scared of using a digicam that early or taking out my trusty camphone. Then the thought becomes a bubble nearing to burst.

Until a friend talked to me about the same idea that I already had. We shared stories, thoughts on how this blog will come into fruition. I was having difficulties of what host to use. He suggested a friend who can help me but I guess I don't have enough time to learn the host that he was suggesting, so sorry for putting this up here and not at the other host. Your help is really appreciated. Almost two weeks passed and I lost all the scratch papers I used writing my supposed to be first batch of entries here. And now, here, you're reading this, and I am serious, I made the first move of putting this up (well, the second, third and the moves to follow will all come from me, I guess) and hoping this blog will come a long way. I will, maybe, invite some friends to share their stories and write here too, I think that's a good idea because all of us have their own jeepney stories to share, for sure.

Until next! :D
